On Friday I checked in a fix for cairo builds on Windows that got us 35ms on the page load test results. Took us from 218ms down to 183ms on gaius. Followed up with another small win for another 2-3ms. gaius non-cairo is still at 141 so there is still about 40ms left. Most pages are about 30ms slower on average with 1 page (voodoo extreme) that that is nearly 2.5x slower. Google is actually 10ms faster with cairo builds! We’re working hard to get performance back on par with the non-cairo builds and hope to get there soon.

Thanks for the hard work. What were the bug numbers?

That’s great news!
I’ll keep following the performance the performance I see with great attention.
It’s really important that Firefox3 is at least not slower in performance.

Pav, could you mention real quickly what Gaius is?
Thanks.

Good work!! Got any links to example pages & speed tests?
Does this effect canvas and SVG much?

Sweet. What’s the status on Mac cairo builds?

Awesome.
Cairo builds are getting better everyday. To be honest I downloaded a 1.9 trunk build the other day and thought I had gotten the wrong build. Not only did it look native, it was pretty damn fast. A huge improvement over cairo builds 6 months ago.
You guys rock, keep up the good work.

Excellent work Stuart. Looking forward to Cairo

That’s good to hear. Everyone should strive for not only Cairo to match the current rendering performance, but to exceed it!
